Veldekenshof used to be a cow farm. Over the years, the previous owners have turned it into a traditional brasserie with the preparation of homemade farm ice cream. In 2017, this brasserie was taken over by the city of Turnhout and social employment site de Troef. After a serious renovation, it reopened on 19 September 2018 as a brasserie short-chain where traditional dishes with as many products from local products as possible are on the menu. The well-known farm ice cream is also still homemade. The brasserie has been transformed into a training place for people with a disadvantage in the labour market in order to move on to the regular labour market.
