In the 19th century, the town hall of Edegem was housed in an inn. Due to the rapid population growth and the municipality only having two rooms in this inn, it was decided in 1910 to establish a real town hall. The brick building in eclectic style was solemnly inaugurated in 1912. The roof and the tower were destroyed by a fire in 1961. Since 1981, the old town hall and its immediate surroundings have formed a protected village landscape. Meanwhile, the municipality of Edegem has built a new town hall nearby. The beautiful old town hall is still used for weddings. Would you like to know more about the old town hall? The historical guides would be happy to tell you more about it.
