Planet Saturn

Hidden among trees is a monument representing the planet Saturn. A 1/40 million scale model was followed. This is how you arrive at a disk 3 m in diameter and 35.7 km from the Sun in Auderghem.

This is part of a scale model of our solar system. The scale model covers the whole of Belgium and has a length of 300 km. It is the second largest in the world, after the Swedish solar system in Sweden. The initiative was taken in 2004. The eleven creations of artist Tim Roosen are located in 10 different places in Belgium. Frank De Winne is the patron of this unique project.

The sun shines on Beaulieu in Auderghem. Mercury is the abbreviation for the Cultural Center of Auderghem. Venus is located in Watermael-Boitsfort (2,705 m away). Our own Earth with the Moon stands in front of the Royal Observatory of Uccle (3.7 km from the Sun). Mars is located in Hoeilaart.

Jupiter is located in Kampenhout-Sas. Saturn in Gembloux. Uranus is located in Tongeren. Neptune in Ostend. Pluto, the dwarf planet located 147 km from the Sun in this scale model, is located in Forenville.
