The Antitankgracht in Haacht

Source: Blauwkruikje

Description

The Antitankgracht of Haacht was built in 1939 and was part of the KW line: the main resistance position Koningshooikt-Waver with extension to Namur. It was the backbone of the Belgian defense system in the thirties. The construction of the Antitankgracht in 1939 resulted in a cross-section of the roost castle site.

After the Second World War, nature took over completely. In 2001 this place was recognized as a nature reserve "Haachts Broek-Antitankgracht". There are rare species, such as the crested salamander. In this way, heritage and nature come together.
