'De Gevel' is a humid nature reserve. The central reed land and the surrounding wet forests and hay meadows form a rich bird biotope. Small karekite, bush warbler, grasshopper warbler, great egret, blue heron, coot, moorhen, oriole, buzzard and wasp thief are regular guests. From autumn onwards, squatters, teal, dodaars, reed bunting and snipe also regularly stay in the area.
