In 1732, the first church became a reality. The architect was Paul Merckaert from Brussels. In 1877, it was decided to enlarge the church. The renovation was completed in 1888. The Saint Amandus Church, along with Den Dries, was classified as protected heritage in 1956. The restoration of the church was completed in 2002.
