A groebe is a specific valley shape. It is an erosion channel with steep walls like some of them here in the Neigembos. They were formed after the last ice age, about 12,000 years ago. The meltwater quickly scoured out the slopes, and steep walls and deep gullies were formed. That is why a groebe is also called a melting valley. The reason why this particular shape can still be seen so well is thanks to the afforestation. The erosion channels in other places were less explicit due to soil erosion, which was able to widen the valley walls into arched valleys a little faster.
