On an old walled site along the Leie, a small castle in Empire style was erected at the beginning of the 19th century. It later served as a country residence for the Ghent lawyer and alderman Justinus Martens and, since 1868, for senator Ernest Solvyns. Around 1920, it was sold by the Solvyns family. It has had various purposes, including that of a restaurant. Currently, it is inhabited by a Ghent industrialist.
