In the Sint-Andries cemetery, the war memorial focuses on the universal theme of family grief. In a recess in the fence, a stone war memorial commemorates the fallen of Sint-Andries of the Great War. Especially the high relief attracts the attention: a mourning couple and a young mother with child. They depict in a moving way that every dead soldier is someone's son, husband or father. The memorial, designed by the Bruges sculptor Octave Rotsaert, was unveiled on 20 June 1920.
