Steenborn comes from the word spring, which means the upwelling of water. The billet path takes you to the pools with pure bubbling spring water, a paradise for frogs and salamanders. This picnic area is located between cycle junctions 164 and 160 and on the walk of Gelinden with the school of Gelinden as the starting point.
Vallei van de Steenbornbeek is a municipal nature reserve. 'Steenborn' comes from the word spring which means the upwelling of water. Here you will find celandine and marsh marigold early in the spring. Later in the summer, the flowering grasslands buzz with life, with species such as cuckoo flower and queenwort and even meadow crown (knautia) nearby, which butterflies and other insects love. The billet path takes you to the pools fed by bubbling spring water. These water features are a true paradise for frogs and salamanders. A wonderful resting place for a picnic.
