Popularly also called 'daa keirk'. When the parish of Saint Nicholas was founded in 1217, the first church was built on this site. It is the oldest in the city and also the decanal church. It was named after Saint Nicholas of Myra, the patron saint of merchants. The church survived the Iconoclasm in 1566 and a heavy fire in 1690. Pay particular attention to the beautiful stained glass windows along the inside and outside.
Don't forget to visit the church treasure in the crypt.
The church is open to the public every morning.
Tip: Enjoy the free organ concerts in the church on Thursday morning at 10 am.
