The Beverbos nature reserve is located along the Maelbeek, between Strombeek-Bever and Wemmel. The name Beverbos refers to the hamlet of Bever in Grimbergen. There used to be a forest around the castle of Bever. Now the Beaver Forest encompasses the entire valley between Wemmel and the castle. Since 2003, the Wemmel part of Beverbos has been managed by the non-profit organisation Natuurpunt. By mowing reeds and grassland and cutting down willows, Natuurpunt provides a varied biotope, in which numerous plants and animals thrive. More information can be found on the panels that are set up at the entrance of the reserve and on the Jagersweg.
