The Old Castle of Petegem is a castle in Petegem-aan-de-Schelde. It was previously a moated castle located on the left bank of a now cut-off meander of the Schelde.
During the early Middle Ages, the ruins of one of the oldest castles in Flanders were located here. A diploma granted by Charles the Bald in 864 indicates that this fortress was inhabited by the Frankish kings of the second dynasty. Gwijde of Dampierre renovated the ancient fortress into a castle.
