Bovenlopen Zwalm is a recognized nature reserve along the Sassegembeek and the Dorenbosbeek, two source streams of the Zwalm in the Flemish Ardennes. It consists of two sub-areas, namely Sassegembeek, which is formed by the northern spur of the Brakelbos and sub-area Dorenbosbeek, the northwestern uiloper of the Livierenbos. The nature reserve covers a total area of approximately 30ha and is recognized as a European Natura 2000 area. A part of the valley of the Sassegembeek that you look out over from Pullem is protected as a monument.
