The parish of Steenhuffel has Saint Genoveva of Paris as its patron saint. The church bears her name. This church is characterized by its 2 world-famous stained glass windows that are considered to be among the oldest in Europe. This is a World Heritage Site.
The 'putteke' that is located at the entrance of the church is not a spring but a dug well. This 'putteke' is reminiscent of the spring of Nanterre in honour of Saint Genoveva. Every year, a beautiful replica of the 'putteke' is included in the Genoveva procession that traditionally goes out on Pentecost.
