Line 150 was built by the Belgian State Railways to connect the lower reaches of the Sambre with the French Ardennes: two industrial basins that were connected by waterway, but for which the railway represented an important acceleration. This part is also called "Ligne de la Molignée", named after the river from which the valley follows.
