Initially, the Hof ter Walle stood on this site. The construction of the current neo-Renaissance castle started in 1854 and lasted until 1859. The castle was commissioned by Baron Polydore Piers de Raveschoot-Surmont de Volsberghe. Four of his six sons later became mayors of Olsene. The domain is currently privately owned and can only be visited by way of exception. Since 1995, the castle has been recognized as a monument. During Agriculture Day, every third Sunday of September, the municipality of Zulte organizes a Farmers' Market together with local producers. This takes place in the walled garden of Olsene Castle.
