Arquennes is a very old village of the Roman Païs of Brabant, connected to the province of Hainaut since February 17, 1800 and currently a member of the entity of Seneffe. Country of stone, we have detected 20 marks of quarry masters, dating from 1580 to 1759 and their important corporation has carried here and abroad, the reputation of Arquennes. Old quarries have been filled in and others have been flooded naturally, thus contributing to the variety of important tourist potential. Arquennes preserves extremely ancient traces of human occupation, from the Paleolithic to the Bronze Age, not to mention Roman villas and a Frankish cemetery. It was once part of the Roman Païs of Brabant and was incorporated into Hainaut in 1800. In 1917, it was crossed by the German army. The fountain Rêve de pierre rêve d'eau located on the Grand-Place testifies to the region's quarrying past.
