Description

Stekene station was located on Railway Line 77, this railway line ran from Sint-Gillis- Waas to Zelzate. In Sint-Gillis-Waas the line connected to railway line 54 Mechelen-Terneuzen, in Moerbeke to the former railway line 77A to Lokeren and in Zelzate to railway line 55 Gent-Terneuzen, the former railway line 55A Zelzate - Eeklo and to railway line 204 to Gent-Dampoort. Now the whole line has been broken up. In the former station building of Stekene (1870), which was renovated in 1992, the local community D'Euzie has found its home. Every year, the heemkring organizes two themed exhibitions in the premises of the Museum Oud-Station. Stekene and the boroughs of Kemzeke and Klein Sinaai.
