From the Chapel of the Resistance, you can cycle up towards Opoeteren (to the right). Once you reach the top, you can descend to the left, towards Dilsen, at the finish of the Belgian National Road Cycling Championship in 1976 (Beringen-Dilsen). A second steep and long slope (Europalaan/Driepaal), well worth it.

Info Chapel of the Resistance: This chapel was built in 1946 in memory of the more than 100 resistance fighters from the region (area of the White Brigade, Department of Maaseik-Rotem).
The chapel is located at the edge of the forest where the hideout (codenamed 'Anatol') of the resistance was located. In early September 1944, several groups of resistance fighters ("Resistance members") gathered here to combat the German occupiers alongside the advancing Allies. The Germans learned of the preparations (through betrayal) and attacked the hideout. Dozens of resistance fighters were killed or captured.
