Rue Belliard is remarkably narrow (and quiet) at this point, because the tunnel to Leuven swallows up most of the traffic. The square called Place Jean Rey is located on Chaussée d’Etterbeek, which runs parallel with the Maalbeek, connecting the former village centres of Ixelles, Etterbeek and Saint-Josse. This square was a permanent construction site for a long time, but in recent years its many new homes, restaurants and shops have made it a pleasant spot. Over in the right-hand corner, the large café-restaurant Grand Central, which is known for its international vibe, catches the eye. There’s a lovely view from the first floor.
