A new stream meander was dug near the Karenberg that follows the historic route from before 1972. During the execution of the works, VMM opted not to make a new bridge on Kerkhofstraat. As a result, the Zuunbeek at the bridge of the Kerkhofstraat flows back into its old, straight bed for a while and then continues to follow the new historical route. The banks of the new bed are only reinforced near streets. The flowing stream water will gradually (re)form the banks by erosion. The old, straight bed also remains here to serve as an additional drainage channel at high water levels.
