Born on November 17, 1912 and died on March 7, 1993.

Alice Van Meirvenne was the youngest in a family of nine children. Her father ran a tree and rose nursery in Haasdonk. Alice was brought into the business when she finished primary school. In her spare time she drew, but going to art school was not for a girl of her generation. She, on the other hand, took evening classes in home economics, French and English.

At the age of 20 she became an invigilator-secretary in a school in Waregem. After two other jobs, she ended up in the army, first in Brussels, then in the Westakkerskwartier. There, she was given a room to exhibit every year.

In the years 1944-1945 she helped the disabled painter A. Van Daele and by watching him at work she learned a lot about painting techniques. Initially, she trained herself by copying postcards and then working from nature. Recurring themes in her work are flowers and landscapes. In addition to painting, she was also active as a poet: with the proceeds of her first exhibition in Stekene in 1967 she financed her first collection of poetry.

In 1978 an exhibition followed in the town hall of Haasdonk and in 1980 one in the castle Cortewalle in Beveren.
