A high dike separates the walking path from the newly constructed meadow bird areas Doelpolder North and the Brakke Kreek. Both zones were established as nature reserves to compensate for the nature lost during the construction of the Kieldrecht Lock. Doelpolder North has been transformed into a wet and varied meadow area with ditches, pools, and ponds. The result is a paradise for meadow birds such as greenshank, black-tailed godwit, and summer teal in spring, and waders, ducks, and geese in winter. Walking on the dike is prohibited to avoid disturbing the birds. Fortunately, there are two observation huts along the way to observe the coming and going flying residents in peace. Junction 90-91-92.
Spotting: In Doelpolder North, the nature reserve near the Doel nuclear power plant, you can spot numerous meadow birds such as black-tailed godwit and greenshank in addition to spoonbills. Or look through the birdwatching wall at the active fish eagle island.
