The name Parfondruy comes from Porfond Ru which means deep stream (Ruisseau Profond) and refers to the local stream that cuts deep into the hill.

During the Battle of the Bulge, on December 19, 1944, Parfondruy was the scene of a massacre of villagers. 24 people were shot dead by German troops in a machine gun shed. Alone, a young 2-year-old child escaped unharmed from this massacre. The hamlet had only 50 people. A little further there is a war memorial.

There is also the chapel Sainte-Lucie. The chapel is dedicated to Lucia of Syracuse, a Christian martyr who died in the early 4th century and was invoked against bleeding and eye diseases.
