Description

This bank is located near the Poelbergmühle.

The mill at the top of the Poelberg is of the open-foot pile mill (West Flemish for standard or standard mill) type, with blades about 24 meters long. This is the oldest wooden windmill type in the Netherlands (11th century in Sint-Denijs-Westrem). This mill can be steered with the stern into the wind.

The mill often operates on Sunday afternoons (2022). There are heritage days and special windmill days when many (West) Flemish windmills are in operation. ( Windmill Heritage – Von Molenbrigade ). More than 20 wind turbines are active in West Flanders.
