The Thier de Coo is one of the toughest slopes in Belgium and would rank 163rd in the world. Usually the ascent is done from Stavelot. However, this resting place is on the road from Coo to Ster, at an altitude of about 400m. The climb continues up to 470m, but at this junction you can also go directly to Stavelot via Parfondry.

Nearby there is also a small war memorial to the deminer Rolabnd Albert Joseph.

Text on the monument:

Au Demineur

Roland Albert Joseph

The Quenast

Victime du devoir

Cause of Death: Explosion of a grenade while setting fire to branches to aid detection.

At the foot of the climb in Coo is 'The coffee ride' Le Coffee Ride - Cafe | RouteYou

Le Coffee Ride Headquarters Shop & Cafe is a cozy place where you can enjoy carefully purchased coffee specialties, various drinks and snacks throughout the day, a retail space with Le Coffee Ride clothing line and much more!
