Café Sint-Laurentius, which was run for more than fifty years by Kortrijk's most famous café owner, Luc "Lukie" Kemseke, lives on. Typical for this business: sandwiches. When the weather is nice, there is a terrace on the village square where you feel like you are in the South of France.
Fun fact about Lukie Kemseke
Luc Kemseke, the boss of the café Sint-Laurentius on the corner with Kooigemplaats, man of the people, was known as Lukie. Next to his café was his butcher's shop. In the restaurant you could and still can enjoy a delicious sandwich with 'chopped' (minced meat). Lukie suddenly got a lot of attention when he had a pony as a guest at the bar. The animal was lost and Lukie took it inside until the owner showed up.
