The large rock wall right next to the city center of Durbuy is the Durbuy Anticline, although the rock wall is also referred to as Anticline, Roche d’Omalius, or Roche de Falize. The rock wall, made of limestone, is 37 meters high and the rock layers are clearly visible here. These rock layers are folded in an anticline, hence the name. This is a folding upwards of the geological layers, which means that the oldest layers are in the middle. As a result, the rock wall has the shape of an inverted U. The rock wall is so clearly visible due to the erosion caused by the Ourthe River. Initially, it flowed partly in front of the rock wall, thus eroding a large part of the hill. It is estimated that the rocks are about 375 million years old.
