This monument is located on the hunting horn square in Wiemesmeer and commemorates the St. Hubertus celebration from 1947 - 1997.
In the wooded Wiemesmeer, located in Zutendaal in Limburg, the annual St. Hubertus festivities take place. These festivities last no less than two weeks. The drag hunt is always organised during the last weekend of October and the Saint-Hubert Celebration invariably falls on 3 November. The vènerie, or chasse à courre (slip hunting), is an age-old way of hunting, in which one tries to follow a wild animal with a pack of dogs and possibly catch it, with or without success. Only the dogs hunt thanks to their natural instinct and their pronounced sense of smell, man as hunter is only there to guide them.
