Here, at the foot of the valley face, you can see a very pronounced example of a graft. You can still see excellently in most places where such a graft is formed. That is at plot boundaries with vegetation or other source of closure. They work double in forming such a graft. Slope upwards, it captures the discharge of soil material. Slope downhill it stops the recessive erosion so you get a steep slope.
