Archeopark: 1000 years of history back to life
The abbey of Ename dates back to a castle... Around 974, along a bend in the Scheldt, Ename was the chosen place to build a border post between the French and German empires. That imperial castle was destroyed and in 1063 the St. Salvator Abbey was founded. Until the French Revolution, the abbey was bustling with activity.
Today you can visit the 8 ha Archeopark. Researchers brought the history of the abbey back to life with a 'Time Window'. Virtually, that is.
