De Dans der Zotten by Bruggeling Stan Slabbinck is, after Jamz's mural of Mary of Burgundy in the Hauwerstraat and the wood sculpture by Strook aan 't Santpoortje, the third work within the street art project Legendz .

After imprisoning Maximilian I of Austria for a time in their struggle for autonomy, the latter forbade the holding of a fair and other festivities.
In an attempt to appease him, Bruges held a big party for him and then asked permission to once again hold an annual fair , collect taxes and ... build a new madhouse .
He replied: " Close all the gates of Bruges and you have a madhouse!".
