Mill Museum Pelt

Overpelt is the mill municipality of North Limburg with six mills. The Mill Museum literally stands in the shadow of the Sevensmolen, a windmill. This museum keeps the heritage alive. The exhibit provides an overview of the entire process from grain to bread over the years. Various techniques for driving the millstones are showcased. In addition to the miller's tools, the bakery's equipment can also be viewed.

Notable pieces include two diesel engines from the 1930s, the reconstructed dog tread mill, and a steam engine. All tools in this museum are operational. On the first floor, there is an exhibition about measuring and weighing with more than 700 objects including many weights and scales.

The Mill Museum is not just a museum about mills. Much more than that, it provides an overview of the entire process "from grain to bread" over the years. It starts with the separation of chaff and grain. Visitors eventually end up in the bakery shop of yesteryear after learning about milling and baking.

The Mill Museum is open every last Sunday of the month from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM or by appointment (only for groups of 10 or more, to be reserved with Pier Dijkmans of the non-profit organization Levende Molens Limburg at 0497 51 13 31); a visit can be combined with a visit to the Sevensmolen.
