In 1964 the Turkish miners gathered on the Paul Lambertlaan in a wooden barrack .
Now there is a beautiful building with minaret here. This is a tower from which the imam calls the faithful to prayer. At the back of the mosque you see a bulge. This is the niche in which the Imam stands for leading the prayers. This niche faces east , in the direction of Mecca.
The mosque has moved away from the classical interpretation by organizing all kinds of socio-cultural and educational projects . For example, they provide homework supervision and children can study in the mosque with the support of professional teachers from both primary and secondary education. The mosque also opens its doors for the monthly breakfast Sundays , the annual day of open houses of worship and guided tours for schools, associations and other authorities.
With the traditional friendship brunch , the mosque wants to promote relations between Muslims and non-Muslims . They also want to demonstrate that different nationalities, cultures and philosophies of life can live together peacefully
