This church has a long construction history that dates back to the 13th century under Count Baldwin IX. In the 14th century, Count Louis of Maele added the Chapel of the Counts. The interior of the church is richly designed in Baroque style from the 17th century. Inside, you will find several important artistic treasures, including the Crucifixion by Anthony van Dyck, the beautiful murals of the Counts of Flanders, and the statue of Saint Catherine (recognized as a masterpiece!).
Experience 1302 and the Battle of the Golden Spurs as if you were there yourself, through a sound and light show or at the experience table. You will also discover why the lion is a symbol of Flanders.
Visiting the church is free. The Experience 1302 is also free, but reservations are required: Home - Kortrijk 1302
