This stela in limestone is 1.80 m high.
At this place, on September 1, 44 , four people were killed when they returned from their fields by cart. They were shot at by an American fighter plane that mistakenly mistook them for retreating Germans.
The stele used to have a crown donated by veterans.
Martin Pironet was a veteran 14-18. His daughter, Marie-Thérèse Pironet, was previously the victim of a German air raid on 16 May 1940 at Burnonfosse in France. She was probably on the run with her family from the advancing Germans. She was only sixteen years old.
