This is a work of art by the Japanese Kazuyoshi Hirai from 2019 as part of the sculpture symposium. It bears the name 'l'origine du pierre'.
Stone is present everywhere in Durbuy and to pay tribute to this material, the idea arose in 2005 to unite artists around working with this material from the region. The Durbuy International Sculpture Symposium was born! Since then, every two years, the municipality of Durbuy organizes a festival that brings together a dozen sculptors from all over the world . For fourteen days, they bring to life a work of art that will be placed in one of the villages of the municipality, turning this village into a veritable open-air museum! Each year, the committee proposes a different theme on which the sculptors should work.
In the meantime (2022) more than 50 works of art have already been placed.
