Eglise Saint Thomas - Maulde

The Église Saint-Thomas in Maulde has a rich history dating back to the Middle Ages .

Originally built in the Romanesque style , the church underwent several renovations and extensions over the centuries, so that the church now displays a combination of Romanesque and Gothic architectural styles . The Gothic elements can be seen especially in the choir and the transept.

According to the New Testament in the Bible , Thomas was one of the apostles who witnessed the resurrection of Jesus from the dead. He is best known for his disbelief when the other disciples told him that they had seen Jesus after his crucifixion. Thomas said he wanted to see and touch the wounds of Jesus to believe. This earned him the nickname " Doubting Thomas ".

According to tradition, Thomas was finally convinced of the resurrection of Jesus when Jesus appeared to him and showed him his wounds . After this meeting, Thomas proclaimed the Christian faith in various parts of the Middle East and India.
