The Jardin des Poètes is a square in the cemetery of the Saint-Aubert church.
It contains ten graves , namely those of Maurice Gérin, Gilbert Delahaye, Madeleine Gevers-Malfaire, Roger Bodart, Géo Libbrecht, Robert-Lucien Geeraert, Rachel De Guide, Robert Léonard and Colette Nys-Mazure, the latter still living. Their husbands are also buried in the cemetery.
The tombs were inaugurated in 1971 and laid out in an arch by the Tournai architect Léopold Henno.
The "Jardin des Poètes" is a place of cultural and artistic significance, where visitors can admire sculptures and works of art inspired by famous poets and literary figures. Each image or artwork often has a link to literature and poetry , and the garden is designed to provide a peaceful and contemplative atmosphere.
There is also a "Chemin des Poètes" walk here. On this famous "Poets' Path" , some fifty blue stones have quotes from great regional writers engraved on them.
