Kiosk in the museum park - Tournai

The first kiosk in the Tournai park was built around 1860 by Simon Gahylle, chief architect of the Tournai public works office.

However , at the end of 1909 the first kiosk was rejected. It was then decided to replace them with a larger kiosk . This first kiosk was moved to Place Combrez in 1909. She was damaged during the bombings of 1944 and finally scrapped in 1952.

The octagonal kiosk is 9 meters wide and 10 meters high. The staircase, as originally designed by the architect, was to be made of iron, but was eventually made of stone with a cast iron balustrade. Access to the basement is via a hatch in the paving of the kiosk.
The gutter is decorated with a fluted zinc ornament placed at the height of the cornice. This roof, also made of zinc, is crowned with a dome decorated with scales and various ornaments. Atop the roof is a wrought-iron finial rising from two intertwined lyres; this finial measures 3 meters.
Lighting is provided by a wrought iron chandelier that conceals the pipes.
