In Parc Marvis, just like in the nearby Parc St-Jean, there is a pair of towers , also called the Luchet towers.
The park was created in the early twentieth century when the petite rivière was filled in . Edmond Wibaut, then alderman for works, had the trees planted between 1911 and 1916, which still deserve respect today.
The park is named after Walter van Marvis (Tournai, around 1175 - there, 1252) who was bishop of Tournai from 1219 to 1252. At that time the diocese included the current dioceses of Ghent and Bruges.
