The Pont de Liège is the first structure over the Semois . In 1069 its construction was already necessary to ensure the passage of the important trade route between Verdun and Liège.
She was destroyed several times by drifting ice . They had to wait until 1598 for a stone construction, which Vauban reinforced with a defense work on the left bank in 1680. It was rebuilt in 1778. The bridge was called Old Bridge (Vieux pont) at the time.
The charm of this bridge was increased in 1939 by placing two impressive statues on the right bank. One in memory of Godfrey of Bouillon and the other dedicated to St Arnoldus . Now we find the statue of Godfrey of Bouillon at the foot of the castle, the other is on the slope "Auclin". The new bridge dates from 1951.
