The Jardins du Maïeur were created in 1997 by the city's parks and gardens department and are located on a terrace above the city hall car park .
The geometric layout has been softened by the planting of large, well-developed trees and shrubs of various species: lime trees, circular coppice, tall magnolia, parrotia, American dogwood, witch hazel, climbing hydrangea, viburnum, etc.
The fresco of the Walloons on the wall overlooking the gardens is a tribute to the Walloons who have shaped an entire region in areas as diverse as history, film, culture and politics.
The main entrance is via the rue de Fer, the garden is at the back of the town hall and there is another entrance via the Venelle des Capucins.
