In 1588, JB Du Bois de Fiennes founded a chapel in his castle dedicated to Saint Fiacre. Saint Fiacre is the patron saint of gardeners.
However, it was not until 1676 that residents could attend mass and receive the sacraments of baptism and marriage. In 1718 a pastor settled in Membre, followed by a pastor in 1853.
The former chapel, surrounded by the cemetery, was demolished in 1888 and replaced by the current church.
A striking feature is the organ built by Georg Westenfelder, one of the best of his time. Organ concerts are still given.
