Monument in memory of the Canadian soldiers of the Alconquin Regiment who died in the Battle of 't Molentje against the Germans on September 13 and 14, 1944.
During the liberation of Belgium, the Canadians encountered heavy resistance from German troops at the Molentjesbruggen in Moerkerke. They had to cross the 2 canals at this place. An attempt to advance here ended fatally for the Canadian infantry. Civilian houses and the mill came under heavy fire.
