The flavors of the fair. There is one address for that: Désiré de Lille. For now, the business is located in a pop-up on Suikerrui, but by mid-November 2024, Désiré de Lille is expected to reopen in Schrijnwerkersstraat. In the temporary location opposite the town hall, you can still find the flavors of the fair; lacquemants, smoutebollen, and apple beignets. “The flavors of the city,” Khadija laughs. “It’s also really nice to see that former customers now come with their children and grandchildren to discover these treats.” At Désiré de Lille, it’s not just sweet delicacies. In the tearoom, you can also find a savory shrimp croquette, a cheese croquette with 3 different cheeses, a croque-monsieur, a toast mushroom, or a uitsmijter. “To finish off with a delicious ice cream according to Marc Stoffels' unique recipe,” Khadija adds.
