Behind the Palais des Beaux Arts lies the gigantic Palais des Expositions (1953) that underwent a thorough metamorphosis on the drawing board of the AJDVIV agency of Jan De Vylder. The building was opened up on two sides, allowing the energy of the ring road and the city to flow through it. On the old ACEC site, a few kilometers outside the center, Aerospacelab is building the largest satellite factory in Europe based on a design by Karsten Geers and David Van Severen. The furniture in the revamped squares bears the stamp of Muller-Van Severen.
