Kreekruggen, Brugse Steenweg, Noord-ede: until the beginning of the 17th century, the Noord-Ede flowed towards Bruges from the Palingpot (Klemskerke). During the land reclamation in the 17th century, this natural watercourse was connected to the 'Creecke' of Bredene for the drainage of the 'Watering van Blankenberge'. This stretched from the sea to the Blauwe Sluis and Plassendale and was later referred to as "Sluisvliet". Subsequently, the name "Noord-Ede" was used until the mouth into the Ostend harbor channel.
