You cycle along a section of the Guldenspoorpad, an old railway track dating back to 1869 that now serves as a cycle path and is part of the F45 cycle route between Ghent and Kortrijk. Railway line 83 was a Belgian railway line connecting Kortrijk with Avelgem and Ronse. The line was 28.7 km long.
It remained in operation until 1991, when freight trains still ran between Kortrijk and the Bekaert plant in Zwevegem.
